Sliding scale.

We are committed to making mental health care accessible while maintaining a sustainable private practice. We recognize that financial capacity varies and that systemic inequities often create barriers to receiving mental health care.

To help bridge this gap, a limited number of sliding scale, reduced-fee appointments are reserved within the practice for individuals experiencing significant financial hardship or systemic barriers.

To ensure your care is seamless & confidential, we partner with Headway for secure electronic health record (EHR) management, billing, and scheduling.

  • Streamlined client portal: Through Headway, you have access to an easy-to-use digital portal where you can securely complete intake forms, update payment methods, view invoices, and manage upcoming appointments

  • Invoicing & receipts: Headway automatically manages session billing and generates itemized receipts and Superbills, making it effortless to track your medical expenses or submit for out-of-network reimbursement

Good faith estimate.

Below are the mandatory disclosures regarding your rights under federal law and the legal scope of the services provided through this website.

Your right to a good faith estimate.

Under Section 2799B-6 of the Public Health Service Act and the No Surprises Act, healthcare providers are required to inform individuals who are not enrolled in an insurance plan or who are not using insurance a "Good Faith Estimate" (GFE) of expected charges for medical items and services, including outpatient mental health therapy.

  • Right to receive an estimate: You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate explaining the total expected cost of your non-emergency healthcare services. This includes anticipated session fees and administrative costs associated with your care.

  • Timing: Your Good Faith Estimate will be provided in writing at least 1 business day before your scheduled medical service or item. You can also request a GFE before scheduling an appointment.

  • Dispute rights: If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you have the right to dispute the bill through the federal dispute resolution process.

  • Documentation: Be sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate for your records.

Scope of Practice and Jurisdiction

  • Licensure: All professional counseling services offered through Birdsong Counseling & Ecotherapy are provided by a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) licensed in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

  • Geographic Limitations: In accordance with state licensing board regulations, telehealth and in-person counseling services are available only to individuals physically located within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania at the time of the session.
